 Man brutalises his pregnant wife in Anambra  In another case of domestic violence, a pregnant woman was brutally beaten by her husband in Ichi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. The mother of three identified as Chinelo Francis, from Ebonyi State, said trouble began when she requested money from her husband, Peter, to prepare food.  According to the young woman, she had already bought vegetable with the profit she made from her shop. Peter, also from Ebonyi, claimed he didn’t make money that day and took the children home.  He returned to her shop at around 8:00 PM and insisted she close up and come home with him.  She refused, explaining that the time was when she typically made most of her sales.  Later, she closed up her shop, went home at 9:30 PM, prepared the children for bed, and retired.        The new counsel for Senator Joshua Dariye, Kanu Agabi, SAN, finally closed the case of the defence, on October 10, 2017 bringing to a close a defence that began on June 10, 2016.
Agabi who was used by Dariye to replace G.S. Pwul, SAN, his former counsel who withdrew in March, told Justice Adebukola Banjoko, that the defence was ready to address the court.“My lord, I am pleased to inform your lordship that we are closing the case for the defence and will like to address you,” Agabi said.The prosecution, led by O.A. Atolagbe, raised no objections.“We have no objection to that, and we are also grateful to address your lordship,” Atolagbe said.Atolagbe, thereafter, urged the court to vacate a subsisting order, based on the request of the defence when it was led by Pwul, asking for the recall of the first prosecution witness, Musa Sunday, an EFCC operative, who was also present in court.The defence raised no objections to the oral application of the prosecution.
