 GOVERNOR UZODIMMA CALLS FOR LOVE, UNITY, HIGHLIGHTS PROGRESS IN IMO STATE  In his Easter message delivered after the Holy Eucharist at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish in Omuma, Oru East LGA, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, emphasized the central theme of the Easter season — Love. The Governor called on citizens to extend the spirit of Easter beyond mere celebration, encouraging them to embody love, unity, and compassion in their daily interactions and civic responsibilities. He commended the people of Imo State for their steadfast commitment to these virtues and urged continued efforts to promote a caring and united society. Highlighting the state's achievements, Uzodimma pointed to his administration’s people-centered policies and projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Imo residents.       *VP's speech to focus on "What Makes Africa Work."
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will be delivering the keynote address at this year's Africa Summit, themed “What Makes Africa Work” taking place in London, United Kingdom from tomorrow the 8th to the 9th of October, 2017.
The Africa Summit hosted by the Financial Times of London is a global forum reputed as one of the leading conferences in the world on African business and economic matters. The newspaper itself has had a relationship with the African continent that stretches back to its opening issue more than 125 years ago.
At the summit which attracts global leaders, economic experts, investors and intellectuals from Africa and around the world, Prof. Osinbajo will discuss the increasing economic prospects in Africa and detail the progress of the Buhari administration, especially through the Federal Government's medium-term Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP, to the global audience.
The summit which will also include presentations from other leaders and speakers will feature first-hand experiences and interactions from government and business leaders in the continent, while providing credible opportunities and encouraging foreign investments. So far, the yearly event has become a platform for the dissemination of a more accurate and beneficial narrative of the improving economic environment in Africa.The Vice President leaves for London today and is expected back on Monday.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
