 Group demands declaration of Aba North Assembly seat vacant, threatens protest A group known as the Coalition of Aba North Ethnic Youth Groups has mandated the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emereuwa to declare the Aba North seat vacant in seven days. The Aba North seat has been a subject of controversy since November 27, 2023, when the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos sacked Destiny Nwagwu of LP and declared Aaron Uzodike of the PDP, the duly elected member to represent Aba North. However, the seat has remained unoccupied since November 2023, as Uzodike of PDP has not been inaugurated by the Speaker, despite his several appeals. A fresh controversy erupted Friday, as the Coalition of Aba North Ethnic Youths Groups, asked the Speaker to declare the seat vacant within seven days or expect a city-wide protest in Aba. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, as a trail-blazer and somebody who has set new standards in innovative governance.
According to a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Idowu Adelusi in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, President Jonathan stated this in a goodwill message he sent to the governor to mark the governor's 57th birthday.
In the letter dated November 15, 2017 with reference number OGEJ/HE/127/1511-17, the former president said the anniversary of the governor's birthday called for thanksgiving and prayers because "God Almighty has blessed you exceedingly, given your exemplary achievements in leadership, industry and philanthropy.
"As a leader and trail-blazer, you have spearheaded numerous initiatives and accomplishments that have not only remarkably improved the quality of life in Ekiti State, but have also set new standards in innovative governance.
"You are a patriot who is always resolute and forthright in canvassing your views on matters of progressive politics and national development.".Jonathan therefore wished Fayose many productive years in the service to the nation.

He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
