 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Image result for menzies urich      Heather Menzies-Urich, an actress who played one of the singing von Trapp children in the hit 1965 film “The Sound of Music,” died Dec. 24 in Frankford, Ontario. She was 68.
Her son, actor Ryan Urich, told Variety that the cause was brain cancer.
Ms. Menzies-Urich played Louisa von Trapp, the third-oldest of the seven von Trapp children, in the film adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical that starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.“The Sound of Music” captured five Academy Awards, including best picture.“Heather was part of ‘the family.’ There is really no other way to describe the members of the cast of the movie of ‘The Sound of Music,’” Ted Chapin, president and chief creative officer of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, said in a statement.A Toronto native, Ms. Menzies-Urich also appeared in the films “Hawaii” and “Piranha.” On television, she appeared as a fugitive in “Logan’s Run” and had guest spots on “Dragnet,” “Bonanza,” “Marcus Welby, M.D.” and other series.Survivors include three children, several grandchildren and a great-grandchild.Her husband, actor Robert Urich, died in 2002.
