 Nigeria Posts $6.83 Billion Balance of Payments Surplus in 2024, Signaling Economic Resurgence and validating Renewed Hope Agenda  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a Balance of Payments (BOP) surplus of $6.83 billion for the 2024 financial year, marking a decisive turnaround from deficits of $3.34 billion in 2023 and $3.32 billion in 2022. This improvement reflects the impact of wide-ranging macroeconomic reforms, stronger trade performance, and renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy. Stronger Trade and External Account Performance The current and capital account recorded a surplus of $17.22 billion in 2024, underpinned by a goods trade surplus of $13.17 billion. Petroleum imports declined by 23.2% to $14.06 billion, while non-oil imports fell by 12.6% to $25.74 billion. On the export side, gas exports rose by 48.3% to $8.66 billion, and non-oil exports increased by 24.6% to $7.46 billion. Remittance inflows remained resilient, with personal remittanc...

       Onitsha businessman Ifeanyi Obunadike caught two deer in his farm.
Ifeanyi Obunadike aka "Sefinie" on Sunday posed with his mouth-watering hunting trophy of two purported deer he caught on his farm close to Onitsha, Anambra State.
The elated businessman whose profile shows he graduated from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka with a degree in Engineering immediately grilled the assorted meat and said he gave instructions to his wife to prepare pepper soup with some of the meat immediately.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
