 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January.         A young man identified as Ifeanyi Oguejiofor has reportedly killed his father with a knife and stabbed his mother in Abatete community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident occurred yesterday Saturday.He was arrested by the Abatete vigilante group in the area and handed over to the police.However, his mother simply identified as Josephine, who survived the attack narrated that suspect killed his father after demanding money from them.She explained that their inability to give him the money he requested for resulted in the sad event that claimed her husband’s life.Anambra police command has apprehended Ogueofor, 27, who is a commercial motorcyclist and begun an investigation into the matter.More details later.More photos below.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
