 PDP: Defection of Delta gov, others unfortunate –Damagum •Says 2027 contest between Tinubu and Nigerians Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, has described the defection of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and top members of the opposition party in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as unfortunate. Damagum, who stated this at the presentation of Certificate of Return to the PDP candidate for the November 8 Anambra State governorship poll, Jude Ezenwafor, said the party least expected that leaders of the Delta PDP would defect to the ruling party. Senator James Manager, had after a meeting in Government House, Asaba, reportedly announced the defection of Oborevwori and leaders of the Delta PDP to the APC. Top shots, who defected alongside the governor, include his predecessor and PDP 2023 vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa. GOV. ISHAKU SYMPATHIZES WITH FAMILIES AFFECTED BY RAINSTORM IN JALINGO.

      His Excellency, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has expressed sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives and all others who lost valuable properties to the rainstorm that swept through Jalingo on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Governor Ishaku described the death of four persons in the natural disaster as unfortunate and regrettable.
He said problems arising from changes in weather have gradually become a global concern that need joint action by government, private sector and people to find enduring solutions.He assured that his administration will take all steps necessary to safeguard the environment against disasters of this nature in the state and advised the people to cooperate with government to make sure the successful implementation of programmes and policies that will reduce the impact of all forms of climatic changes that threaten our environment.He prayed God Almighty to grant the souls of the victims of the disaster eternal rest.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
