  NBC bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from radio, TV The National Broadcasting Commission has barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song “Tell Your Papa” by veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.” In a memo dated April 9, 2025 and issued by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission declared the track Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This section prohibits content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency from being aired on Nigerian broadcast platforms. According to the NBC, while the song has gained momentum across social media platforms, its lyrical content fails to meet the standards of responsible broadcasting. N9.2M FRAUD: FORMER DEPUTY CHIEF REGISTRAR BAGS 7YEARS JAIL TERM TODAY.{PHOTO}.

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal office, on Friday, May 18, 2018, secured the conviction and sentencing of a former Deputy Chief Registrar of the Oyo State High Court, Mutiat Omobola Adio. 
Hon. Justice 0. M. Olagunju of the Oyo State High Court sitting in court 6, Ibadan found the convict guilty on count one of the two counts Charge preferred against her. The count which earns the convict a jail term borders on the allegation of obtaining the sum of N9.2 million by false pretence from one Abiodun Rasheed Olonade, an Ireland based Nigerian.However, the court dismissed count two bordering on the allegations of stealing the alleged sums on the grounds that she has already been found guilty on a more grievous offence. Adio was convicted and sentenced to 7years Imprisonment on count one without an option of fine. The court also ordered that the convict should restitute the sum of N9.2M she fraudulently obtained back to the complainant. The convict was earlier arraigned on Friday April 28, 2017 by the prosecuting counsel, Dr. Ben Ubi of the Ibadan Office of the EFCC when she pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her. The fact that earned her the conviction states that she collected the sum of N9.2M from her victim as money realized over the sale of a property located at Plot 10, Block XXIV, Bashorun Estate, Ibadan, but failed to provide the title documents of the property to the buyer. All efforts made by the victim to either recover the money or have possession of the property yielded no result.
The charge reads: “That you, Mutiat Omobola Adio on or about the 19th of December, 2016, at Ibadan within the Ibadan judicial Division of this Honourable court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of Nine million and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N9,200,000,00) only from one Alhaji Yekini Olonade through Kunle Abimbola by falsely pretending that it was part payment of the cost price of a building and land situate, lying and being at plot 10, Block XXLV, Bashorun Estate, Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan which you purported to have sold to him”.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
