 *PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies.        Senator Shehu Sani took to his social media five hours ago to write ''Dr Ibrahim Coomasie ordered for my arrest and signed my detention order in Kiri Kiri Prison, lagos in 1995.When I was released from Prison,he reached out to me and we became ‘friends’ and I related with him as a father.I visited him at home a couple of times and visited him while on his sick bed few weeks ago.We lost a patriot,an Elder-statesman,a through bred professional and a man ever passionate about his country and his people.May his soul Rest in Aljanna Firdausi.Amin''.
