 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. GHASTLY CAR ACCIDENT ALONG ENUGU-ONITSHA EXPRESSWAY AWKA ,CLAIMED ONE LIFE & SIX INJURED.{PHOTOS}.

      A vehicular accident around Government House axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway,Awka, has claimed the life of a middle aged woman and left six others injured.
The accident involving a commercial bus plying perm site route in Awka with registration number AWK 166 XX and a Toyota Camry car with registration number, FGG 28 LN, took place at about half past five yesterday evening.
When the ABS arrived the scene of the accident at about quarter past six O'clock this evening, the victims had been evacuated by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Anambra State, Mr Sunday Ajayi said three of the injured persons have been taken to a nearby hospital in Awka while three others in very critical condition were conveyed via an FRSC ambulance to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.
He identified wrong overtaking and over speeding as the major cause of the accident and appealed to motorists to exercise caution when plying on the roads.
An eye witness who spoke to the ABS at the scene of the accident, Miss Chiamaka Ugo narrated how the Toyota Camry had slammed into the bus, causing it to somersault into a nearby gutter.ABS had arrived the state FRSC headquarters on time to see the ambulance conveying the critically injured persons to NAUTH, Nnewi in the company of FRSC officials and relatives.More photos below.
