 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. LASG PROMOTES 131 FIRE OFFICERS.{PHOTOS}.


    Lagos State Fire Service on Thursday promoted and decorated 131 fire officers with new ranks in recognition of their transformational leadership, dedication and diligence in carrying out their official duties.
Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Special Duties & Inter-Governmental Relations, Dr. Jemilade Longe congratulated the newly promoted officers for coming out successfully in the year 2018 promotion exercise and exhibiting discipline, selflessness, commitment and abiding by norms and values of the service of honour.
He said the ceremony was designed to build a culture of excellence and appreciate outstanding officials who distinguish themselves through their performances in any given task.
According to him, “The ability and readiness of the officers to promptly respond and cushion the effect of hardship being thrown at people whether by nature or human errors are qualities that stand them out among their counterparts”.
He said as first responder to distress calls they should endeavor to widen their horizon and familiarise themselves with new techniques and acts in the prevention and management of fire outbreaks, adding that their laudable feats have earned them the respect and confidence of Lagosians which must be sustained in line with the Smart City vision of the State.
Earlier, the Acting Director Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau, declared that the feat recorded in this year promotion exercise is applaudable and described the officers as vibrant, efficient and responsive in the discharge of their duties and thereby deserved to be celebrated.
