 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NSCDC ARRESTED A MAN WHO HAS BEEN RAPING HIS DAUGHTER FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS IN ONDO STATE.

    The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a man, identified as Adebisi Akinola, who has allegedly been raping his daughter for the past three years.
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Pedro Awili, on Tuesday in Akure, said the suspect had been abusing his daughter sexually since 2015 when the victim was 15 years old.The commandant said when the daughter could no longer bear the incestuous relationship, she ran to the NSCDC for help.He said, “The daughter told us about the ugly incident and her statement helped us to nab the suspect, her father.“Akinola also confessed to the crime; he said he has been having sex with his daughter for three years.”The NSCDC boss said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the corps completed the investigation into the matter.He also warned parents, especially fathers, to desist from such act which he described as barbaric.
The victim said she had earlier reported the matter to her paternal aunt, adding that the issue was not adequately addressed.The suspect, however, blamed devil for the act.
