We’ll Accept FG’s Pilot Ranching if it Conforms With Our Ranching Law – Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that Benue State will accept the pilot ranching proposed by the Federal Government only if it conforms with the provisions of the Benue Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017.
He spoke yesterday at NKST Central Mkar, Gboko while addressing pastors and the congregation at the 2018 Synod.
Governor Ortom stated that the idea of having many ranches in a particular area which translates to cattle colony was a good one but Benue has no free land to donate for such venture.
While noting that he was ready to give his all to put Benue and Nigeria in general on the global map in modern animal husbandry, Governor Ortom reaffirmed Benue’s position on ranching according to the provisions of its law.
He solicited the prayers and support of the church in addressing the security challenges in the state, adding that he and his predecessor were working together for peace and development of the state.
In his address, President of NKST Worldwide, Reverend Dominic Anza, reiterated the resolution of the church to stand with Governor Ortom to entrench ranching in the state.
He appealed to the Governor to look into complaints arising from workers’ verification in the state with a view to addressing genuine ones.Rev. Anza also sued for unity of purpose among prominent Tiv sons and daughters, even as he charged electorate to go out and register en mass in the ongoing voters registration exercise in order to have a say in the forthcoming general elections.Governor Ortom later inspected ongoing work on the construction of a befitting Palace for the Tor Tiv V, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse, which is over 80 per cent completed.
