  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms.      The Presidential Committee on Flood Assessment, has visited Ogun State, to access the extent of damage of the recent flash flood in the state.Chairman of the Presidential Committee, Prof. Emmanuel Adanu, speaking to news men, after visiting Governor Ibikunle Amosun in his office in Abeokuta today, said the committee would access the technical profile of the rivers and make recommendations to the Federal Government, in accordance with its mandate.Adanu, who said his team visited Odo-Eran, Oke-Lantoro, Ogun River and other affected areas, assured that necessary action will be taken as soon as the committee submits it's reports.The state Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye, also speaking, said necessary data has been collected for analysis and recommendations.He added that the team also offered advise on how to convert such volume of flood into positive use, assuring that measures will be taken to prevent future occurrence. @ Abeokuta.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
