 Workers will rather work for free than accept N48,000 — NLC The Nigeria Labour Congress has warned that it would rather mobilise workers to remain at home with their families or offer free services than accept the paltry N48,000 new minimum wage being offered by the Federal Government when they meet on Tuesday. The Deputy President of the NLC Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, disclosed this in an exclusive interview. On Wednesday, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress had walked away from the negotiation table after the FG offered to pay N48,000, a figure far below the N615,00 the unions demanded as the new national minimum wage. After the session, the labour leaders told newsmen at an emergency press conference that it was ‘an insult to the sensibilities of Nigerian workers.’ Did you know a tribe that digs up corpses, dresses them for celebration?0:00 / 1:01 But 24 hours after the revolt, the Chairman of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, Alhaji Bukar Go

NORTHERN COALITION PLANS MASSIVE SOLIDARITY RALLY FOR OSHOMHOLE,AKPABIO.{PHOTO}

Group operating under the aegis of  Patriotic Northern Coalition for Justice, Peace and Equity said it has planned a massive rally in solidarity with the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for his approach and doggedness in stabilizing the party.The Coordinator of the coalition, Babangida Sule-Manchok, said as a ruling party, whatever affects the APC will have widespread impact on the entire nation, pointing out that it was imperative for the recent crises to be tackled effectively, and of which Oshomhole has begun on a sound note.Addressing newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital, Sule-Manchok part of their rally will also honour Senator Godwill Akpabio who recently defected from the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, explaining that his action will enhance true national unity because the colouration that the APC was a regional party with sympathy for a particular religion will be eroded.The Coordinator said many high profile northern leaders and politician are members of the PDP, and that it was also necessary for high profile leaders and politicians from the South-South and South-East, especially, to join the APC in order to create balance in the polity and to propel democratic development."We commend the patriotic approach and doggedness of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman, for trying to sanitize  the entire system of  Nigerian politics through his effective tactics in handling the affairs of the party since he took over, as well as his approach in resolving the recent crises in the party which he inherited. This is because as a ruling party, if there is any crises rocking it, there would definitely be negative impact on the nation, directly or indirectly. And on the other hand, if there the party is crises-free and flourishing, it would have positive impact on the nation.That is why we appreciate Oshomhole for restoring stability to the party. Hence, we as a coalition are therefore planning a massive rally in support of Oshomhole across the north. We shall also be showing our love and support for President Muhammadu Buhari for his effective leadership, particularly his anti-corruption fight. The President has shown the political will to rid the nation of corruption and we urge him to continue. Again, we will show our support for Senator Godswill  Akpabio for ensuring political balance through his recent defection from the PDP to APC," he said.He enjoined other party leaders to emulate the APC Chairman, saying that Nigeria has never had a dogged, courageous, reliable and no-nonsense party chairman like him, especially considering his antecedent as an unprecedented labour leader and an engineer of dividends of democracy to Edo State when he served as the executive governor of the state."We are also calling on the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, not to do anything that will stir crises in the National Assembly, following the recent defections by law makers, including himself from APC to PDP. He should not allow praise singers and sycophants to lead him astray because the National Assembly is imperative in enhancing the nation's democracy. In all, we pray for free and fair general elections in 2019, and we will seriously campaign against electoral violence and political thuggery that might mare the elections," he added.
