 I’ve never been a rapist – Russell Brand breaks silence over allegations Actor and comedian Russell Brand has broken his silence following charges of rape, indecent assault, oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault involving four women. Brand, however, firmly maintains that he has “never been a rapist”. The 49-year-old further accused the government of turning the law into “a weapon”. In a video posted to X on Friday afternoon, Brand thanked his supporters and stated his intention to contest the allegations in court. “I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile,” he said. “But what I never was, was a rapist. I have never engaged in non-consensual activity — I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.” The Metropolitan Police have now charged Brand with one count each of rape, indecent assault, and oral rape, as well as two counts of sexual assault.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
