  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality. SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURRED ALONG ONITSHA AWKA OLD ROAD AMAWBIA YESTERDAY.[PHOTOS}

     A very serious accident just occurred at Amawbia axis of Awka Onitsha Old Road, direct opposite Sumec Filling Station, Amawbia.

The one vehicle incident occurred, when a Toyota Venza Sports Utility Car, traveling along other vehicles on a very high speed, lost control and crashed into a block of lock up stores, where the people of the neighborhood used to fetch water from a commercial borehole.
Fortunately, Before this reporter could get to the scene, according to an eye witness the driver, of the Sport Utility Car, has been rescued from the wreacked car, that was smashed beyond recognition and taking to nearby hospital.
Further inquiry shows that there was no fatality, only the wreacked car and near collapsed lock up stores were affected.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
