 A New Jersey woman drowned her two young daughters in 2024. She has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.  27-year-old Naomi Elkins first captured the attention of the nation after the shocking events that occurred in her home on June 25th, 2024. Naomi made a chilling call to Hatzolah Ambulance service. In that call, Naomi stated "I did something to my kids" and "they're drowning". She informed dispatchers that her children might still be alive even though they quit "fighting". When first responders arrived to the home they were met by a heartbreaking scene. Naomi's two young daughters had both lost their lives at the hands of the one person whose job was to protect them. The ensuing investigation uncovered the tragic details of the little 1-year-old and 3-year-old girl's last moments. Please note that consular functions at the U.S. Consulate Lagos are not affected and will continue. Until further notice, applicants are encouraged to contact the Consular Office in Lagos for immediate emergency travel. Please monitor this page and Website of the U.S. Embassy for updates on consular operations. Scheduled visa and ACS applicants for Abuja will be contacted for rescheduling. American citizens in northern Nigeria with emergency services needs should continue to contact the after-hours emergency number for Abuja at 09461-4000 and press “0” to go to the operator to request assistance. We regret the inconvenience this has caused to our applicants and hope to resume operations soon.

Those travelling after Tuesday should follow up with Abuja ACS to confirm their appointments closer to their appointment date. Please monitor this page and the Website of the U.S. Embassy for a later announcement of resumed consular operations in Abuja.One more photo below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
