OBI ATTRIBUTES STAMPEDE TRAGEDIES IN OYO, FCT, AND ANAMBRA TO HUNGER AND SYSTEMIC ISSUES. (PHOTO).

 Peter Obi has blamed hunger and systemic failures for the recent spate of stampedes across the country.  Scores of persons were dead, and many others wounded in the tragic incidents in Ibadan, Oyo State; Okija in Anambra and another one in the nation’s capital of Abuja. The stampedes happened in a space of five days with the last two occurring on Saturday morning during food distribution campaigns. Obi, who was the Labour Party (LP)’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, said the incidents underline the rising hunger in the country which has led to desperation. “I am deeply saddened and distressed by the tragic loss of lives in desperate searches for food,” Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State, wrote in a post on his X account Saturday afternoon. “While I will not cast blame but instead appreciate the organizers of these respective events for their kind gestures in providing palliatives and support to society, especially the poor, these tragedies reflect the...

ATIKU CONDOLES WITH RIVERS GOVERNMENT OVER PASSAGE OF ATTORNEY-GENERAL TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

     Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condoled with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike over the death of the Attorney General of Rivers State, Honourable Emmanuel Aguma (SAN ).
Speaking during a condolence visit at the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said the passage of Aguma was shocking.
He said: "The loss of the Attorney-General of Rivers State was a shocking news to us. This is because of our relationship with the state. "
He prayed God to grant the state the fortitude to bear the painful loss as the services of the Late Attorney-General of Rivers State would be missed by the country.
"We pray that God gives you the strength to bear this great loss. It was something we would not want to see, but God knows the best", he said.
Also speaking, Former Ogun State Governor; Otunba Gbenga Daniel thanked Governor Wike for his contributions to the development of the country.
He also praised the governor for his developmental strides that have positively improved the lives of the people.
Responding, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated that though the death of the Attorney General of Rivers State was painful, the State is comforted by condolence visits by prominent Nigerians like the former Vice President.
He said the Late Attorney-General of Rivers State was one of his most trusted officials who exhibited loyalty, intelligence and commitment.
The governor said: "He carried out his assignments with diligence. The Late Attorney-General of Rivers State helped us so much especially to defeat the mole, Ali Modu Sheriff who was planted by the APC".
He said Aguma was a legal expert who used his knowledge positively for the good of Rivers State.
The Former Vice President later visited the family of the Late Attorney-General of Rivers State.
