 Flags honoring Danish troops restored at US embassy after public backlash     The removal of flags honoring Danish soldiers who were killed while serving in Afghanistan has sparked widespread anger in Denmark after staff at the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen took them down ahead of a planned silent march honoring veterans. The flags, which had been placed in flower boxes outside the embassy and bore the names of fallen Danish troops, were removed days before a Jan. 31 demonstration intended to show solidarity with veterans and commemorate their sacrifices. The timing intensified public backlash, particularly following recent remarks by President Donald Trump that appeared to minimize the role played by NATO allies during the war in Afghanistan. BENUE STATE GOVERNMENT AWARDS CONTRACT FOR THE REHABILITATION OF MORE ROADS IN MAKURDI AND THREE MAJOR TOWNS.{PHOTOS}.

      The Rehabilitation of Township Roads has shifted to Otukpo, Gboko and Katsina Ala Local Government Areas with the award of contracts.
Also to be rehabilitated are three more Township roads in Makurdi Metropolis.
The total contract sum for all the work is put at over N1.4 billion Naira.
The roads to be given attention in Makurdi are from Wurukum Round-About to Airforce base, Bush Bar to Adaka and Customary Court of Appeal to George Akume road.
In Otukpo, the Amstrong Avenue, Commercial and Och'Idoma roads are earmarked to be rehabilitated,while in Katsina-Ala,The Takum Junction to Juladaco Roundabout to College of Education, Juladaco Roundabout to General Hospital to Zaki-Biam road as well as Atim Atedze road will be given attention.
The Captain Downes,Adekaa,Bristow Roundabout to Union Bank Roundabout down to Tor-Tiv garden in Gboko are also be rehabilitated.
At the Contract Signing Ceremony, The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works,Transport and Energy, Mr Ityosange Akaagerger who signed on behalf of the State Government,said the decision was in line with the present administration's determination to make all roads within the townships motorable.
Mr Akaagerger explained that all rehabilitation works are to be completed within six months and charged the companies to adhere strictly to contractual agreements.
He assured them of all the necessary professional and technical support from the Ministry to ensure timely completion.
Responding separately, Project Manager of P. W Nigeria Limited, Martin Whyte,Chairman of Ghas Integrated Services Limited, Hassan Garba , Managing Director of Privent Construction Company, Engineer Steven Akange and that of Zateco Construction Company, Engineer Joseph Zendesha, who endorsed for their respective companies,all assured of quality and timely delivery of work.
High points of the events was the signing and handing over of contract documents to the contractors.
NOTE:
-Makurdi roads are awarded to Privent Construction Company
-P. W. Nigeria Limited is to handle the roads in Otukpo
-Ghas Integrated Services Limited is to effect repairs on the township roads in Katsina -Ala, while Zateco Construction Limited will repair the roads in Gboko.
