 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. ORTOM SWEARS IN FIRST BENUE FEMALE HEAD OF SERVICE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

   Governor Samuel Ortom today swore in Mrs. Veronica Onyeke as the first substantive female head of service in the state after 42 years since the creation of Benue state.
The ceremony took place at the Old Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
Governor Ortom charged the new head of service to be committed and dedicated in her service to God and humanity as contained in her oath of office, stressing that her appointment was a square peg in a square hole.
He noted that Mrs. Onyeke was appointed head of service at a very challenging time when the service was facing many challenges including indiscipline, lack of commitment to work and absenteeism, stressing that a lot of sacrifice was needed to sanitise the system.
The Governor said as engine room that drives government machinery, the civil service needs to operate strictly within the ethics and norms guiding it.
Mrs. Onyeke, who hails from Ogbadibo Local Government Area was appointed head of service following the retirement of her predecessor Engr. George Ede.Mrs. Onyeke thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for the privilege given to her and promised not to abuse the confidence reposed in her, assuring that she would always uphold the tenets of the service.More photos below.
