 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ADEKUNLE AKINLADE EMERGES AS OGUN APC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE .{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Honourable Adekunle Akinlade, current member of House of Representatives (Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, has been declared as the winner of the governorship direct primaries of Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) held on Tuesday 2nd October 2018.
Making the declaration today at the APC State Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Derin Adebiyi said Akinlade polled the highest number of valid votes in the primaries.
The result of the primaries showed that Akinlade scored 190,987 votes, leaving Jimi Lawal in a distant second position with 5,046 votes. Dapo Abiodun garnered 3,648 votes. He was trailed by Abimbola Ashiru with 898 votes, Adegbenga Kaka with 833 votes and Abayomi with 208 votes.
Adebiyi said “in compliance with the constitution of our party and the guidelines released by the National Working Committee (NWC) All Progressives Congress”, the Ogun State chapter had constituted local government and ward election committees that conducted the primaries in the 236 wards of the state.
He disclosed that the Election Committee from the National headquarters of the party in Abuja directed that the governorship primaries should be held on 2nd October 2018 which prompted the closure of all primary and secondary schools by the state government for the exercise.
“Therefore, the governorship primaries were conducted and monitored by the relevant agencies”.
