 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. GOV. ORTOM MEETS EVACUATED UNIJOS STUDENTS TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

     Governor Samuel Ortom this morning met students of the University of Jos who were evacuated by the state government from the school on account of the security situation.
He sympathized with the institution and the Plateau State Government and prayed that the situation would improve.
Governor Ortom stated that as a state which has experienced a similar situation he appreciated the pains and anguish.
He expressed his condolence to those who lost loved ones and urged the Federal Government to rise up to its responsibility of protecting lives and property.
According to him all the agencies for the enforcement of the laws and provision of security belong to the Federal Government.
The Governor suggested the establishment of state police to help tackle the challenge.
He said the security agencies lacked adequate personnel and equipment adding that the provision of security was expensive. 
Governor Ortom stressed that the Ranching Law had come to stay adding that hundreds who have violated it have been arrested and prosecuted with several of them who could not pay fines serving prison terms.
He stated that he left the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, because the Federal Government which the party controls deliberately refused to arrest those responsible for widespread killings in the state.One more photo below.
