 LASU’s 28th Convocation: 192 Bag First-Class Degrees A total of 192 students will graduate with First-Class honors as Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, holds its 28th convocation ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello announced this on Thursday during a press briefing at the university’s Senate building. She revealed that out of 8,711 first-degree graduates, 192 earned First-Class, while 3,076 finished with Second-Class Upper Division. Additionally, 4,397 secured Second-Class Lower, 990 earned Third-Class, and 39 graduated with a pass. Olatunji-Bello named Nwosu Isioma Sybil of the Biochemistry Department, with a CGPA of 4.93, as the overall best-graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session. Among the 2,235 postgraduate students, LASU will award 302 postgraduate diplomas, 1,132 academic master’s degrees, 639 professional master’s degrees, 125 Ph.D.s, and 37 professional doctorates.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
