Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.      Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was on Friday enthroned as Nigeria's Sports Governor of the Year by the Nigerian Sports Awards.
The Nigerian Sports Award chose Governor Wike ahead of Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa .
The organisers of the ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, said that Governor Wike has improved sports through investments and promotion of sporting activities.
He was commended for sponsoring the African Wrestling Championship and laying the foundation for the qualification of the Super Eagles for the World.
The organisers further praised the governor for the development of sporting facilities such as the Diete Spiff Civic Centre and the ongoing construction of the Real Madrid Football Academy in Port Harcourt.
Represented by Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Boma Iyaye, the Rivers State Governor reiterated his commitment to the promotion of sports as a veritable tool for youth empowerment.
It will be recalled that Governor Wike bagged the Power of Sports (POS) Africa earlier in the year, during the International Conference of International Sports Press Association in Brussels, Belgium.
