 A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village.   Ilesha in Osun State shuts down today in a befitting burial for Chief Moses Olaiya Adejumo also known by his stage name Baba Sala. Without doubt he remains one of the greatest dramatists comedians and part of those heroes and pioneers of the Yoruba Traveling Theatre who recorded regularly for WNTV/WNBS  Ibadan in 1970 to 1976.Activities for the Funeral of renowned comedian, Moses Olaiya Adejumo, MON, also known as Baba Sala continued in Ibadan on Wednesday with the lying-in-State at the Cultural Centre, Mokola, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.Scores of actors and actresses graced the occasion to pay their last respect to Baba Sala, who will be remembered for being one of the pioneers of comedy in Nigeria.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun.
Others at the event yesterday were: Pa Lere Paimo, Dele Odule, Peju Ogunmola, Tubosun Odunsi, Aderupoko, Mr Ayo Ogunsina, popularly called Papa Lolo; Rose Odika, Chiefs Toyosi Arigbabuwo, Jinadu Ewele, Veteran Broadcaster, Chief Yemi Ogunyemi, among others.Baba Sala was buried today, Friday, 7 December, 2018.More photos below from today and yesterday lying in state at Oyo state.
