 A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village. MURDER TRIAL: RSG TO COMPEL IGP RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMISSIONER TO PRODUCE OJUKAYE IN COURT.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

        The Rivers State Government will interface with the Inspector General of Police and the Rivers State Police Commissioner to produce the sacked Factional Rivers State APC Chairman, Ojukaye Flag Amachree in court for his murder trial on March 18, 2019.
Addressing journalists after the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday adjourned the murder trial of Ojukaye Flag Amachree, Counsel to the Rivers State Government, Chief Godwin Obla (SAN) said the interface has become necessary because of the refusal of the sacked Factional Rivers State APC Chairman to willingly appear in court.
Godwin Obla (SAN) noted that the State Prosecution Team will use the gap between now and the next adjourned date to interface with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu and the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Usman Belel to request that they strictly comply with the order of the Court and produce the defendant, Ojukaye Flag Amachree on the next adjourned date.
Obla emphasised that if the accused person is not produced on the next adjourned date; there are legal processes to compel the IGP and the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to produce the accused person on the 18thof March 2019.
On Wednesday, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt adjourned till 18thof March, the murder case between the State and the sacked Rivers State factional chairman of APC , Ojukaye Flag Amachree.
The trial Judge , Hon. Justice J. N. Akpughunum adjourned the matter following the absence of the defense counsel and the accused person in Court.
The matter which had earlier been fixed for the 24th January 2019 for the defendant, Ojukaye Flag Amachree to take his plea was adjourned to 20th of February 2019 following multiple murder charges leveled against the factional chairman of APC in Rivers State.
