Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. GOV. AL-MAKURA ORDERS NSUK WATER TO BE SERVED AT ALL GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONS.{PHOTO}.

      The Visitor to Nasarawa State University, Keffi, His Excellency Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has ordered that henceforth, NSUK Water should be served at all government functions and activities in the states.
Gov. Al-Makura gave the order when he received members of the University Governing Council and Management, who were in Lafia to congratulate him on the successes of the 2019 general elections in the state.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, who represented the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Adamu Baikie, during his speech presented the rebranded NSUK Water to the Visitor, informing him that the bottle water is ranked among the best in the country.
The governor expressed delight in the fact that the University is progressing in the right direction, noting especially the successes recorded by the Prof. Suleiman's led management.
He said the table water venture will afford the University of alternative source of revenue, different from the statutory sources.
Gov. Al-Makura instantly instructed the Secretary to the State Government, to ensure that NSUK bottle water is served at all government functions in the state.
