 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. FIVE SCHOOLS TO REPRESENT LAGOS AT WATER PRIZE COMPETITION IN ABUJA,MAY 31ST,2019.#PRESS RELEASE.

     Students of three public and two private secondary schools will represent Lagos State at the 2019 National Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition which will hold at the Swedish Embassy in Abuja on Friday 31st May, 2019.
To qualify for the National Finals of the competition, participants from Lagos State engaged in five projects as such as, “Water Purifier” by Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Randle Avenue, Surulere; “Coagulating Effects And Potential Use Of Medicinal Plants And Lower Plant In Wastewater Purification” by Mogaji Millennium Senior Secondary School, Iloro, Agege; “Natural Ultra Water Purifier” by Kuje Senior Secondary School, Lagos.
Others are “Absorption Property of Activated Charcoal obtained from Corn Cobs to Purify Water” by Penny International College, Coker Village, Orile Iganmu and “Natural Water Purifying Column” by Marv Grace College, Abule Egba.
The Lagos State Ministry of Education was notified by the Chairman and Organiser of the National Stockholm Junior Water Prize (NSJWP), Ikechukwu Godwin Chinemerem that the students would compete with other National finalists from different states of Nigeria while the eventual winners would represent Nigeria at the International Finals in Stockholm Sweden in August, 2019.The Stockholm Junior Water Prize, regarded as the most prestigious International Student Competition for water-related issues, is organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) with the primary purpose of bringing together the world’s brightest young Scientists to encourage their continued interest in water and the environment.
