 71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. The minor, according to a police source who was part of the team that arrested the 71-year-old suspect but was not permitted to speak for the command, was said to have made her way to the apartment’s bathroom to take a shower.     Rivers State Based entertainers joined their international counterparts on Thursday to celebrate Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his outstanding performance which formed the premise for his victory at the polls.
Tagged Variety Night with Governor Wike, the artistes thrilled the high-profile audience with songs, drama and comedy.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, his wife , Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, Former Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose and Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia joined other leaders of Rivers State for the fun-filled night.
Rivers State Council of Arts and Council performed a wonderful dance drama that detailed the political struggles and successes of Governor Wike.
The Rivers State Official Cultural Troupe highlighted how Rivers men and women defended their votes for Governor Wike against invading forces.
One after the other, the Rivers based artistes exhibited their talents and skills to the joy of the crowd.
Jikume Bethlehem raised the bar with her inspiring lyrics and wonderful dance steps. She exhibited the true Rivers spirit and was appreciated by the audience.
Veteran Singer, Peter Stonecold proved his mettle as he led the people in a wonderful rendition that lifted the spirit of everyone.
Sensational Bamidele and Ebieri were outstanding in their presentations.
International Gospel Artiste, Mercy Chinwo was a delight. She sang her award winning songs and lifted the spirit of the people.
Eben was the most outstanding act of the night. His two songs, "victory" and "we go de hail your name" proved to be the blessing of the night. He defined the wonderful experience of the night with a divine touch.
Three comedians, Akpororo, Prince Hezekiah and Arinze Baba blessed the souls of the audience with their rib cracking jokes.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara said of the 22 artistes that performed, 19 were Port Harcourt based. He said that Governor Wike specifically directed that Rivers based artistes be patronised for the event.
In appreciation, the artistes trooped out and thanked Governor Wike for his commitment to the growth of the entertainment industry.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
