 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. BELARUS VARSITY TO PARTNER BENUE INSTITUTIONS ON FOOD TECHNOLOGY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Mogilev State University of Food Technologies in the Republic of Belarus is to collaborate with tertiary institutions in Benue State on food security and areas of developing the agriculture value chain.
The Rector of the University, Professor Maksim Aleksandrovich, stated this when Governor Samuel Ortom met with management of the institution in Minsk, capital of the East European country.
Professor Maksim who was excited at the prospects of exploring new areas of mutual benefits for all the parties involved, expressed willingness to visit Benue State at the instance of the Governor.
He stated that the university's curriculum included undergraduate and postgraduate studies in various aspects of food technology and processing as well as short term and correspondence courses.
Governor Ortom who had earlier extended invitation to the University Rector, stressed that the visit could enable the team to be acquainted with the Benue environment so as to be able to fashion out the best areas of collaboration and research.
The Governor also visited the University of Civil Protection which offers courses and practical training in tackling emergencies, Specialized Youth Skills Training Centre, as well as the Belarus National Technical University, all in Minsk.
In all the institutions he visited, Governor Ortom discussed specific areas of youth training and possible collaboration between them and their similar schools in Benue State.
He addressed the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industry on investment potentials in the state and interacted with private investors.
