 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.     According to sources, At 10:22pm last night, 9 out of the 24 Members-Elect of the Edo State House of Assembly, elected a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker for the 7th Assembly.
The cold war between Gov. Obaseki and his Predecessor, Oshiomole is quite turning into an interesting drama.
Obaseki in a move to strengthen his grip in the state party structure and government, discussed with his Deputy Philip Shaibu, and whisked away the 9 members-elect, the Clerk of the House of Assembly, among other officials to stage a secret inauguration.More photos below.
