  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality. NAF TO PARTNER WITH A TEXTILE COMPANY FOR LOCAL PRODUCTION OF UNIFORM FABRICS.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       SELF-RELIANCE: NAF TO PARTNER WOOLLEN AND SYNTHETIC TEXTILE MANUFACTURING LIMITED FOR LOCAL PRODUCTION OF UNIFORM FABRICS
In compliance with the Federal Government’s directive for the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security agencies to patronise the Nigerian Cotton, Textile and Garment (CTG) Industry Sector, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is perfecting plans to partner with Woollen and Synthetic Textile Manufacturing Limited, Ikeja, for the local production of NAF uniform fabrics. In this regard, a team from Headquarters NAF, led by the Chief of Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Muhammed Yakubu, visited the Company, today, 16 July 2019, to inspect facilities at the factory as well as assess the capability of the Company for mass production of high quality NAF uniform fabrics. These fabrics, some of which were hitherto imported from abroad, would subsequently be sewn into NAF uniforms of various sizes at the NAF Investment Limited (NAFIL) Tailoring Workshop, Kaduna. It is expected that the NAF’s partnership with the Company, and others in the Nigerian CTG Industry, would further enhance the Nation’s self-reliance in terms of uniforms production whilst also boosting employment opportunities for Nigerians.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
