 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.      President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that his administration will strive to complete on-going projects that will impact positively on the lives of the people.
Speaking Wednesday when he received the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli at the State House in Abuja, President Buhari said he was mindful of what infrastructural development could bring to uplift the standard of living of the people.
He also said that his administration was taking new measures to address the security situation in the country.
Replying to comments that the Itsekiri people gave him massive support during the elections, the President remarked that he appreciated the support, saying, “I have all the figures of votes I got and I know what itsekiri people did.”
Earlier, the traditional ruler who spoke through Chief Brown Mene congratulated the President on his electoral victory and commended him for his successes so far in the battle against insurgency and his continued determination to tackle corruption.
While also praising the President for dredging works on the Escravos and Warri Rivers, the Olu of Warri requested for intervention on some ecological problems in his domain as well as the resolution of issues surrounding the Ogidigben Gas Revolution Park.
