 FG MOVES TO CUT EDUCATION COSTS, PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY WITH REUSABLE TEXTBOOK POLICY The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a comprehensive policy framework aimed at reducing the cost of education for parents, improving learning outcomes, and promoting sustainability in schools through the adoption of reusable, high-quality textbooks and strengthened quality assurance mechanisms. The policy, jointly issued by the Honourable Minister of Education  Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and the Honourable Minister of State for Education Prof Suiwaba Sai'd, forms part of ongoing reforms to reposition Nigeria’s education sector and ease the financial burden on families. The Ministers explained that the policy prioritises the use of standardised, durable textbooks designed to last between four and six years, while expressly prohibiting the bundling of disposable workbooks with textbooks in schools.       The Nigerian Military School (NMS), in Zaria, Kaduna State, has held its 2019 session 'Speech and Prize Giving Day' for its 2018/2019 set of graduating students.
Eminent guests who graced the event at the school premises include former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who was the 'Special Guest of Honour', Mr Babatunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), who was the Chairman of the occasion.
While unveiling the Junior Leader Magazine, - the magazine of the school, Mr Fowler requested for 500 copies for an undisclosed amount and also promised to project the magazine to several corporate organizations urging them to support and carry out projects for upgrade of educational initiatives and programmes of the Nigerian Army.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai, the Chief Host, was represented by the Chief of Standards and Evaluation 'Army' , Maj Gen A O Shodunke.
Other Senior Officers and Dignitaries in attendance were Prof Faruk Haruna Rasheed, Provost Federal College of Education Kontagora, the Comdt Depot Nigerian Army Maj Gen S Mohammed, Acting Corps Commander Education, Brig Gen H B Mohammed, and the Representative of the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Umaru Mohammed, amongst others.More photos below.
