OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 30 PEOPLE INVOLVED IN A GHASTLY ACCIDENT TODAY ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY,KILLING 6 PEOPLE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.


      At about 0830 this morning Friday 30 August 2019, along the Lagos -Ibadan Expressway around ISARA close to Ogere in Ogun State, a traffic crash involved two commercial buses that collided as a result of head on collision.

A total of  30 people were involved made up of 19Male Adults, 9Females Adult,1Male Child and another ,1Female Child.

The People  injured in the crash were 24 comprising 16Male Adults ,6Female Adults , 1Male Child and ,1Female Child.

Unfortunately the crash led to the death of  6 people made up of 3Male Adults and ,3Female Adults.

Two Vehicles were involved in the crash . A white Toyota Bus with registration number
 ABC932XJ
The second vehicle also a passenger bus is a white Mazda bus with registration number
FST820XD

The fatal crash was caused by excessive speed and  wrongful overtaking when the Mazda bus travelling from Lagos left it's lane while overtaking dangereouly and collided with the Toyota bus coming from Abuja which was travelling on the opposite direction of the Expressway.

The FRSC Rescue team rescued 
11 injured victims to Victory Hospital Ogere, 6 other victims were rescued  to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH) Sagamu. 
The 7 other  victims were rescued  to Idera Hospital Sagamu for medical attention.

The corpses of the six  passengers killed in the crash comprising  three people made up of 1Male Adult and ,2Female Adults were deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital ( OSUTH), Sagamu  Mortuary. 
Another  set of three killed passengers comprising 2Male Adults and ,1Female Adult were deposited at the  FOS Ipara Morgue.

The  Obstructions have been cleared to restore free flow of traffic.

The FRSC Ogun State Sector  Commander, Clement Oladele has commisorated with the families of the deceased victims and wished those injured quick recovery .

He has also informed members of the public to contact the FRSC Commands in either  Ogere or Ogunmakin for details of the crash .  They may also contact the aforementioned medical facilities for details of the incident.

The Sector Commander  expressed sadness over the unfortunate crash as it was avoidable if only there was strict adherence to construction speed of maximum of 50 kilometers per hour and refraining from overtaking around construction zones. 

The Sector Commander reiterates the need for motorists to note that the entire strech of the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway remains a construction zone and motorists are once again advised to regard construction zones , especially diversion points as areas requiring extra caution with speed not exceding  50 kilometers per hour and where they  should also refrained  from overtaking to avoid this type of unfortunate crash.
