 Prince Harry leaves African Parks board after charity admitted rangers committed human rights abuses Prince Harry has left the board of African Parks after nearly a decade with the conservation charity, a year after the organization acknowledged that some of its rangers had committed human rights abuses. A spokesperson for Harry, 41, confirmed his departure while emphasizing that his work in African conservation will continue. “The Duke is proud of his 10 years with African Parks and fully supports the ongoing strengthening of its Board,” the spokesperson said. “His commitment to conservation in Africa continues, and he remains a supporter of African Parks’ mission.” Harry first partnered with African Parks in 2016 and became president of the organization the following year. Sanwo-Olu mourns Oniru, commiserates with royal family
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday expressed his condolence to the Oniru Royal Family and the people of Lagos over the passing of Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru.
The revered monarch passed on today at the age of 82 after a brief illness.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the Governor commiserated with the Oniru Royal Family and people of the State, while describing the late monarch as “a very important Lagosian and a patriotic Nigerian” who passionately channeled his energy and traditional leadership towards building a prosperous State.
His death, the Governor said, is a huge loss to Lagos and the nation in general.
The statement reads: “On behalf of the Government and the people of Lagos State, I commiserate with the Oniru Royal Family on the transition of His Royal Highness, Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru who joined his forebears. His service to the state and country at large will remain his enduring legacy.
“While we hoped the late monarch would be with us as we roll out our strategy towards a ‘Greater Lagos’, Oba Oniru today breathed his last and left legacies that will remain valuable in our effort to build the Lagos of our dream.“We take solace in his esteemed advice and regular admonition from which our government drew strength to lift our people and improve their welfare. I pray that Almighty God repose the soul of the late monarch and grant the Oniru Royal Family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”.More photos below.
