 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LASG PRESENTS N10 MILLION CHEQUE TO FAMILY OF DECEASED LASTMA OFFICER WHO LOT HER LIFE WHILE ON DUTY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Lagos State Government today presented the sum of N10 million naira to the family of the deceased Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer, Remilekun Arogundade who lost her life while on official duties on the 26th of May 2019.
Speaking during the presentation of the cheque at the Conference Room, Ministry Of Transportation, Alausa, Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr. Oluwatoyin Fayinka described the late officer, Arogundade Remilekun as diligent, obedient and resourceful, reiterating that the money was not offered in place of the life but in support of the lives affected by the irreparable loss.
He emphasised that the money paid is also to encourage diligence among officers of the State who are determined to serve wholeheartedly, adding that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier visited the family of the slain officer at her residence.
The Permanent Secretary of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, urged the family members to apportion the money as directed and ensure that the upkeep of the children of the deceased is maintained.
Responding on behalf of other members of the family, the husband of the deceased, Mr. Babatunde Jide Oyebode appreciated the good gesture extended to their family by the State government.One more photo below.
