 Sudan urges displaced citizens abroad to return home Sudan has called on all displaced citizens living abroad to return home, as the government steps up efforts to facilitate voluntary repatriation and remove barriers facing returnees. Prime Minister Kamil Idris said his office is committed to easing the return process and ensuring citizens can actively contribute to rebuilding the country, state media SUNA reports. Speaking during a visit to the Ashkeit border crossing in Wadi Halfa, Idris said authorities have taken steps to eliminate illegal levies and ensure that returning citizens are not subjected to additional fees, compulsory charges or arbitrary customs duties. He noted that such practices had previously placed an unnecessary burden on citizens without benefiting the state.      President Muhammadu Buhari said he was “devastated’’ by the passing of his classmate, Dr. Tukur Abdullahi, a Kaduna based medical doctor, who died at the National Hospital, Abuja.
The President said Dr. Tukur, who established and operated Jinya Specialist Hospital, was an “epitome of kindness, warmth and care which he brought into medical practice’’.
“As one of those who schooled with the deceased, I was always delighted to be associated with the gentleman, who was so nice,” President Buhari said.
“The late Dr Tukur was not only a gentleman, but also a compassionate and dedicated professional who chose medicine out of his sheer passion to serve humanity.
“I am deeply touched by the demise of Dr Tukur, one of the finest medical doctors you can ever meet. May Allah bless his gentle soul, and reward his good deeds with paradise.
“May God comfort his family and give them the fortitude to overcome this irreparable loss.’’
President Buhari sends condolences to Dr Tukur’s family, Katsina Emirate, government and people of Katsina over the sad loss, urging them to find solace in his good works.

 How Suspected Phone Snatchers Killed Army Lieutenant In Kaduna  An army officer identified as Lieutenant IM Abubakar has reportedly been hacked to death by a gang that specialises in phone snatching and other crimes. The deceased was killed in the Unguwan Sarki area of Kaduna metropolis during the week. A popular counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a Twitter post. Makama described Abubakar as a talented officer.  He said, “Lt IM Abubakar(Isa) A Young Talented Army Officer Was Killed By Phone Snatchers on His Way Home In Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna. May his soul rest in peace.”
