 Police probe Sallah killings in Kano, invite Emir Sanusi for questioning The Police Force has invited Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II for questioning over the killings during the Sallah celebration in Kano. The letter dated April 4, 2025 and signed by CP Olajide Rufus Ibitoye, Commissioner of Police (Operations), said the invitation was under the directive of the Inspector General of Police. The monarch is to report to the Force Intelligence Department, opposite the Police headquarters, Area 11, Abuja, on Tuesday, April 8 by 10:00am. “I have the directives of the Inspector General of police, through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) to invite you for an investigative meeting with regards to an incident that occurred during the Sallah celebration within your domain. “Your availability is highly sought for a purposeful investigation,” the invitation letter emphasised. DSS ARRESTED MAINA AND HIS SON,AFTER HIS SON PULLED OUT A GUN.{PHOTO}.

     The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the arrest of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT).
A statement on Wednesday by Public Relations Officer (PRO), Peter Afunaya, said DSS police in a combined operation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Maina and his 20 year-old-son, Faisal.
The statement reads: “The arrest which was effected at the Pennsylvania Avenue Hotel, Utako, Abuja followed a request by the EFCC to the Service to assist in the apprehension of the suspect.
“Maina was arrested in company of his 20-year-old son, Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, who unsuccessfully tried to resist the arrest.
“The lad even pulled a pistol against the security agents involved in the operation. He was, however, disarmed and arrested. He is a final year student at the Canadian University of Dubai where he is studying Telecoms Engineering.
“Items recovered from the suspects include a pistol with live ammunition, a bulletproof Range Rover SUV, a BMW Saloon car, foreign currencies, a phantom 7 drone and sensitive documents.“The suspects and the recovered items will be handed over to the EFCC for further investigations and appropriate necessary actions.
“It is instructive to note that the operation is as a result of a renewed interagency collaboration among security and law enforcement agencies.
“The Service has always subscribed to such collaboration believed to be important in national security management and therefore, hopes to sustain the initiative in mitigating the current threats against public safety and national critical assets”.-Daily Post.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
