 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ARREST OF A SERIAL FACEBOOK FRAUDSTER 'DAVID MADUABUCHI' AT OKPOKO.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     It would be recalled that on the 07/11/2019 at about 7:pm,Police detectives attached to Awada Division arrested one David Maduabuchi 'm' aged 22years of No 16 Chukwu Onovo street, Okpoko.
2. Suspect specializes on swindling vulnerable youngsters particularly teenage girls on Facebook and hoodwink them into stealing from their parents and guardian for him (the suspect).
3. Preliminary investigation revealed that between the months of March, 2019 and November, 2019, the suspect lured one Ogechi Miracle 'f' aged 18years and Chinansa Peter 'f' aged 18yrs on Facebook under false pretences of marrying them.
4. Victims were further tutored by the suspect and they both stole the sums of three hundred and eighteen thousand naira (#318,000) and one hundred thousand Naira (#100,000) respectively at different times from their parents, as well as laptop computers which they handed over to him.
5.Case under investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
RECOVERY OF A SNATCHED VEHICLE AND ARREST OF SUSPECTS:
On the 18/11/2019 at about 4:pm, following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Awada Division recovered a Lexus 330 Jeep, Reg No AKL 189 NH which was allegedly snatched at gun point from one Anselm Enwereji 'm' sometime in Dec, 2018 at Ajangbadi, Lagos State.
2. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the case and they have made useful statements to the police.
3. Meanwhile, case will be handed over to Ajangbadi Division, Lagos State Command where the offence took place for further investigation and prosecution.
4. Consequently, on the 19/11/2019 at about 4:pm, following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Harbour Division recovered a Toyota Hiaice bus allegedly stolen at the premises of Osun State Board of internal revenue, Osun State.The Bus which was formerly white in colour has been repainted and registered with Onitsha South LGA of Anambra State.
5. One suspect was arrested in possession of the vehicle and case is under investigation.
FIRE INCIDENT:
Today 20/11/2019 at about 03:30am,there was a fire outbreak at Boys quarters of a storey building belonging to one Mike Orabunwa located at NO 26 New Nkisi GRA, Onitsha.
2. Police patrol team attached to CPS Onitsha led by the DPO rushed to the scene and cordoned off the Area to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage to loot.Fire Service department was contacted who with the assistance of local volunteers put off the fire.
3. Meanwhile,no life was lost, cause of fire and values of property destroyed are yet unknown. Case under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
4. Finally, the Public are advised to take precautionary measures especially by putting off all electric appliances whenever the PHCN took light or when leaving the house in order to avert similar ugly incidents, please.
