 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ARREST OF SYNDICATE INVOLVED IN A CASE OF ARMED ROBBERY, ABDUCTION AND RAPE TODAY IN OZUBULU ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    ANAMBRA STATE POLICE COMMAND DIARY:
On the 20/11/2019 at about 03:30am, Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti robbery Squad (SARS) in conjunction with the recently launched operations Kpochakpu by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano arrested at Ozubulu the following syndicate,
(i) Collins Okpala 'm' aged 25 years.
(ii) Nwachukwu Chimanya 'm' aged 20years,
(iii) Kenechukwu Anyasi 'm' aged 23 years and,
(iv) Pascal Ogbuagu 'm' aged 22 years.
2. Suspects had on the 14/2/2019 abducted a girl of about 21years old (Name withheld) robbed her of her belongings and equally gang raped her severally.
3. Furthermore, the suspects made a pornographic video clip of the rape incident and used the video to blackmail the victim to the tune of one million naira.(#1,000,000)
4. Consequently, suspects have confessed to the crime while the said video clip was also recovered from their phones and registered as exhibit.They will soon be charged to court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
5. It is partinent to reiterate that the Command under the watch of CP John B.Abang,fdc will continue to provide safe and secure environment for all the citizenry before during and after the Christmas and new year celebrations.
