 NPFL Fines Nasarawa United N6m, Banishes Team to Gombe After Fan Attack on Player The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a N6 million fine on Nasarawa United for failing to provide adequate security during their matchday 33 clash against Plateau United, which ended in a 3-2 victory for the hosts. The NPFL also ordered the Solid Miners to play their remaining home matches this season at Pantami Stadium in Gombe, following an incident where Plateau United forward Vincent Temitope was attacked by a home supporter. Nasarawa United has been directed to identify the culprit responsible for causing bodily harm to Temitope and provide evidence of their legal prosecution. Additionally, the club must implement effective matchday security and crowd control measures and submit a plan to the NPFL board before they can return to Lafia City Stadium in future seasons. The Lafia-based club has 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal the sanctions.

    Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commiserated with the family of the late Chief Alexander Opeyemi Akinyele, saying his demise is a great loss to the nation, particularly Public Relations practice.
A condolence message issued on behalf of the Lagos State Government by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, said Chief Akinyeleā€™s commitment to national service made him excel as former Minister of Information and Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
Describing Chief Akinyeleā€™s as a pacesetter who served as the first Secretary-General of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations and subsequently its President,Omotoso maintained that his professionalism and passion for excellence gave depth to public relations practice in Nigeria.
ā€œGovernor Sanwo-Olu sympathises with the Nigeria Customs and Excise as well as his former colleagues at the National Reconciliation Committee, where he served as Chairman, on the loss of Chief Akinyele, a true statesman and patriotā€, Omotoso said.
He prayed that God grants the Ondo Chief, who lived for decades in Lagos, eternal rest and his family, friends and professional constituency the fortitude to bear the loss.
