 Trump administration halts border wall well drilling in New Mexico after ranchers raise water concerns  The Trump administration has ordered contractors building a border wall in New Mexico to stop drilling new wells after ranchers raised concerns that groundwater pumping for construction could worsen drought conditions and threaten their livestock. The move comes as crews work to expand border barriers across four states as part of President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda. The project has received billions in federal funding and has faced criticism from residents, environmental groups and local officials over various impacts. U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which oversees construction, has said water is needed for concrete production, road construction and controlling dust.      The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expresses shock and deep sadness over the death of Umar Pariya, a close aide and ally to the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday.
The PDP describes Umar Pariya as a very patriotic and trustworthy Nigerian, who gave his best in the service of our dear fatherland, particularly as an aide to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, while he was Vice President between 1999 and 2007.
Umar Pariya discharged his duties to our nation with utmost humility and dedication. His continued loyalty to Atiku Abubakar, even to the end, shows his firm belief and commitment to the ideals of justice, patriotism and national cohesion, which Atiku Abubakar stands for.
He was an exceptional and unassuming democrat who made immense contributions and sacrifices towards the upholding of rule of law and strict adherence to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to ensure national stability, equity and fairness in governance.
The PDP is extremely saddened that Umar Pariya died at the time his wealth of experience, loyalty and contributions are needed the most.
The party commiserates with Umar Pariya’s family, our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar as well as friends and associates of the deceased and prays that God grants eternal rest to the faithful departed.
