  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms.     President Muhammadu Buhari sends warm greetings to Lady Maiden Alex Ibru, Chairman, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Newspapers, as she turns 70, congratulating her for a life of giving and coaching, which has attracted recognitions and awards at home and abroad.
President Buhari joins the Ibru family, friends and associates of the Chairman of Guardian newspapers to rejoice on the milestone, while extolling her for providing strong leadership for the newspaper and other companies, and still creating time for the Trinity Foundation, founded by her late husband, Dr Alex Ibru.
As Lady Ibru turns 70, the President believes her outstanding contributions to the lives of many, especially the girl-child and underprivileged families, deserves spotlighting and commendation, affirming that by investing in education of others and encouraging many to return to school, she has touched generations.
The President prays that the Almighty God will grant Lady Ibru more years of good health, strength and wisdom.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
