The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says he does not understand why anyone would come up with the assertion that his mandate was stolen despite the fact that majority of the people in the State spoke through their votes for his emergence under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prince Dapo Abiodun, who made this known at the Christmas Service held at the St. James Anglican Church, Remo Anglican Diocese, Iperu-Remo, said that the Ijebu and Remo people voted unprecedentedly for his emergence, adding that out of the eight constituencies in Ogun Central, he even won five out of the eight constituencies.
"I don't know how anyone could say that we stole any mandate, the Ijebus and Remos voted unprecedentedly for me in the last election. They voted not along the line of 'I am from Remo,' 'I am from Ijebu,' but they voted as one. Never have we ever seen such an amount of votes coming from either Iperu or Sagamu or Ijebu Ode in recent history; yet someone said their mandate was stolen.
"In Ogun Central, out of the eight state constituencies there, we won five overwhelmingly and the ones we didn't win, we still won because the margins are very thin, so how could anyone claim that we stole their mandate. But you know in a country where there is free speech and free thinking, you are free to delude yourself and believe whatever it is you want to believe," he said.
Abiodun also affirmed that his administration would continue to ensure that it delivers on all of the promises it made during the last electioneering campaign, saying that his administration was particular about good governance.
He stated that his administration would soon be commissioning two roads measuring about 4 kilometres in Ado-Odo/Otta that connects the State with Lagos State before the end of the almost gone year, adding that his administration since it came on board had begun the rehabilitation of primary schools and primary health care centres across the two hundred and thirty six wards of the State.
Abiodun noted that his administration would keep up to its word of giving the people good governance, adding that governance in the State would be done with lots of thoughtfulness and purposefulness.
"So I want to promise the Ogun State people that we would live up to our word and the expectation of the people that have entrusted us with these mandate. We will continue to be thoughtful, purposeful and methodical in everything that we do," he said.
The Governor noted that he was only privileged by God to be Governor of the State, despite various election litigations brought against him by politicians who have failed to realise that God was at work, adding that God decided to show him mercy and raise him up among the special people in the State.
Abiodun stated that as an administration, the only way besides thanking God for his faithfulness on his victories, was to reciprocate by being focused on the vision that his administration had created for the State, adding that his administration was gradually moving ahead on ensuring that the people of the State enjoy the dividends of good governance.
In his sermon titled, "Peace Restored through the Prince of Peace," the Vicar and Archdeaconry of the St. James Anglican Church, Remo Anglican Diocese, Iperu-Remo, Ven. Shedrack Ajileye described peace as a state of freedom from fear, disturbance, while noting that God is a friend that can be trusted.
He commended the Governor for the numerous works going on across the State, while acknowledging him for taking care of civil servants and promptly paying workers' salaries.More photos below.
