 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. RIVERS LEADERS CELEBRATE GOVERNOR WIKE'S BIRTHDAY TODAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Leaders of Rivers State in the early hours of Friday took the State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike by surprise when they moved to his residence to celebrate his birthday.
The leaders who arrived at the official residence of Governor Wike at about 12.01 on Friday, sang Birthday Songs for the Governor and prayed with him and his family. Governor Wike's Wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike was supportive as ever as she stood with the Governor during the surprise Birthday session.
They thanked God for the life of Governor Wike who has lived up to the expectations of Rivers people through outstanding project delivery and pro-people governance.
The surprise birthday get-together was marked by the cutting of a special cake and the presentation of a birthday card. Chief Ferdinand Alabraba led other leaders of the State to celebrate with Governor Wike.
Speaking at the surprise birthday session, Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike expressed her appreciation to God for another birthday for her husband.
While thanking God for his mercies, she prayed for a continued blessing for the Rivers State Governor.
She said: "I like to express my sincere appreciation to God. Its another one year and it is a very great time to thank God for all his mercies. His Excellency has come a long way. I have seen him grow and I have seen him transform . He has been enriched in many ways and I thank God for his life.
"It is not an easy position where he has found himself, but God has been faithful. He has given him all the strength and wisdom he requires to run his office."
She said this year's birthday is a time for Thanksgiving to God and the good people of Rivers State.
"More than anything else, this is a time for Thanksgiving. This is a good opportunity to thank the people of Rivers State for the support they have given to him and they continue to give to him. We thank them for always being there for him. Standing out in the face of everything that has been thrown at us, they have remained steadfast.
"You can't please everyone, but as God gives His Excellency the grace, he will continue to do the best for Rivers people.
I wish him God's continued discernment, God's continued peace. I ask God to continue to bless him all round and to enlarge his coast", she said.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Austin Opara prayed to God to protect and bless the Rivers State Governor.
He said: "We wish him many more happy celebrations in Good Health. That God will continue to protect him, favour him and protect his family.
"He would end well. He would end gloriously. As God has chosen him as a Governor, God has equipped him to run the affairs of this state. We know that he will succeed. "
Former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo wished the Rivers State Governor a period of success in governance. He prayed for peace during the remaining period of his Administration, saying that his second term was made possible by God.
"As a personal friend, I wish him and his family, everything that life can afford. As the Governor of our state, I wish him a period of success in governance.
"I wish that throughout his stay as Governor of this State, peace reigns. I wish him all the wisdom that God confers on all the leaders He installed himself. We know what we have gone through in this State and how especially this second term, how he became Governor again. It is only by God's Will and by God's Wish. I believe that on this his birthday, God will fulfill everything ", he said.
On hand to celebrate Governor Wike were: Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia, Chairman of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba , Senator Olaka Nwogu, Former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt Hon Austin Opara, Rivers State PDP Chairman, Former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, Prince Emma Anyanwu, Past and Present Members of the Rivers State Executive Council and other notable leaders.
The Birthday Cake had the inscription: "Celebrating a man of many parts." Governor Wike remains Nigeria's Commander of Projects and the leading advocate for good governance and the promotion of the rule of law.
