 African Airlines record 5.7% decreased demand for air cargo in February — IATA African airlines recorded a 5.7% year-on-year decline in air cargo demand in February 2025, with capacity decreasing by 0.6% in the same period. Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTK), dropped by 0.4%, although international operations saw a 1.1% increase. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) report showed that global capacity decreased by 0.4%, with international operations showing a slight increase of 0.4% in demand. Globally, air cargo demand fell by 0.1% compared to February 2024, marking the first decline since mid-2023. “African airlines saw a 5.7% year-on-year decrease in demand for air cargo in February. Capacity decreased by 0.6% year-on-year,” the report read in part. GOV. ABIODUN ISS SET TO INAUGURATE ELDERS ADVISORY COUNCIL ON THURSDAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    The Ogun State Governor will on Thursday inaugurate an Elders’ Advisory Council at the Obas Complex inside the State Secretariat in Abeokuta by 2pm.
The Governor said the composition of the Council was part of the Government’s desire to tap from the fountain of wisdom of the elderly in our society and to give the state the benefit of the knowledge garnered over the years by these statesmen and women.
“It is in order to walk the talk about our commitment to inclusive and participatory governance that we are doing this. We stand to benefit from these elders in our midst”, a statement issued by Abidoun spokesman, Kunle Somorin said.
The newly constituted Governors’ Elders Advisory Council (GEAC) comprises of critical stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and outside the main political parties in the State.
Members of the Council include statesmen and women who have the requisite governance, business and political experiences necessary to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, the statement added.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
