 Texas woman charged with medical child abuse for falsifying toddler’s health and pushing unnecessary feeding tube surgeries A Texas woman has been charged with medical child abuse after allegedly falsifying her toddler’s medical history to pressure doctors into performing unnecessary procedures, including feeding tube surgeries, in what authorities are calling a “sickening” case. Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food. Covert surveillance confirmed the child was able to eat meals without difficulty, prompting authorities to stop tube feedings. Recall that few months ago,following it's upgrade, the Nigeria Police Medical Facilities in Anambra, Police Hospital Awka in particular successfully performed it's first major surgical operations where it extracted 26 fibroids from a female patient. Since then the hospital continue to expand its horizons by unveiling Eye clinic and Dental department which provides twenty four hours services for both in and out patients.
Consequently, the hospital has now become a reference centre for victims of accident and Emergencies as well as hospital of choice for other Sister agencies in the State.
This was disclosed by the Command medical officer CSP Dr Emelike Chinenyenwa MBBS , Community health Physician and forensic expert Nigeria Police during a maiden meeting of law Enforcement Medical officials in Anambra State in order to foster cooperation, synergy and enhance level of preparedness for Emergency situations and disaster management such as fire outbreaks and epidemics.
Participants at the meeting includes medical officials of the Nigeria Correctional Services,Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NDLEA,
Fire Services,DSS,Anambra Vigilante Service and State Emergency management Agency (SEMA) Anambra State.
The forum was initiated and hosted by the Anambra State Police Command under the watch of the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc.
