 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways.      The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Lilian Salami has paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Office of the EFCC. The VC said the purpose of the visit was to seek EFCC collaboration in terms of knowledge sharing. "We are here to seek for collaboration in terms of knowledge sharing, to partner with the EFCC in sharpening our tools as nobody knows it all." Responding, Muhtar .S. Bello, EFCC Zonal Head, who received the VC and her team which included the Deputy VC, Professor Joel Agolagba and the University Registrar, Mrs O. A. Oshodin on behalf of the Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, said the EFCC was established to curb economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.More photos below.
